When Your Friends Believe in You First

5 minutes before the photo was taken, I was terrified. My first attempt with fire that night did not go well. Fear took over and I reacted before I could think.

But nobody laughed.

Nobody judged.

Nobody told me I wasn’t ready (even tho I was telling myself that!)

Instead, Kim, who lead the fire workshop, stayed calm, encouraged me and trusted me to try again.

Then, Happy came over with her own palm torches and stood beside me. Everyone cheered me on.

And with borrowed courage, I found myself feeling a bit more confident with my palm torch !

One of my favorite lessons from this retreat:

Sometimes your friends believe in you first. <3

Thank you Kim, for creating such a supportive space for us to learn.

Thank you Happy, for stepping right in when I needed a friend beside me.

This moment wasn’t only about trying palm torches. It was about trust, community and finding courage to try again. ~ Karla
